A disaster in disguise
We are living in an extraordinary time. We are exploring out potential. Never have humans reached what we have reached nowadays and there is so much for us to learn. We were blessed with abilities that are beyond our own perception. Everyone has some form of experience in self exploration. Kids explore themselves, they play and they put themselves in physically demanding situations so they can examine their boundaries and what they are capable of. This is not unique to children or individuals; humanity as a whole does that. And since our boundaries change constantly, it is understandable that it is difficult to actually find them. This explains why some might be more optimistic than others when discussing our potential. Some believe we have already reached our limits and that any further attempts to push forward will result in our destruction. Others believe the opposite, that we have just started exploring our true potential and that the journey to find the edge of human understanding is inconceivably long. However you may think, there is not enough evidence to favour one argument over the other, not that I know of anyway. Trying to predict the future of a matrix as complicated as humanity itself, is a brave endeavour, and it is interesting to think about. Each from her/his own perspective and each form her/his own understanding of the world and the amount of knowledge that person has about our current situation. One thing you may have noticed is the development process of an individual throughout life. Particularly during adolescence and into the adult life. A person in that phase is considered reckless and, in best case scenario, immature. However, that person's brain is ripe and she/he would be accumulating knowledge at a rapid rate. But we all know that it is one thing to have vast knowledge of different areas of life and it is another thing to be wise enough to use this knowledge to advance your well-being. Similar is the case with our collective development as humanity. We are, as a wise man has said, humans accumulate so much knowledge but so little wisdom to use it. In my opinion, this is exactly like the latter example of the individual development. If this is the case, then it is reasonable that some of us are scared of what is coming. Humanity is still in its adolescence and is reckless and it could not care less about the consequences.
